CG -S2E0: Industry Jam
Friday Jul 09, 2021
Friday Jul 09, 2021
Welcome back everyone! It's only been a few months but the world is a very different place than it was when we were with you last. People are going back to the office. People are hugging again! It's wonderful!
Cinema Gush is back too and we are so excited to give your ears a hug! We're easing into things here. No guest today, no movie gush itself. Rather we wanted to take a moment to talk about the industry in general. It's been a big year and no industry has been left untouched. Movies are no exception.
Some topics we hit on:
-The Hitman's Bodyguard's Wife is a thing. But how?
-Amazon acquired MGM.
-Chekhov and his many guns.
-Some trailers.
-Post-apocalyptical pandemic movie viewing and the pleasures of seeing a film with an audience of other people.
-MCU TV conspiracy theories.
-Behind the scenes planning that absolutely did not need to be recorded and you didn't need to hear and dates that we didn't hit!
Happy to have you guys back. We have a great season ahead. We're dropping on Friday's this year so pop us in your ear at the end of your work week and enjoy some movie times with Cinema Gush.
Enjoy your weekend and we'll see you next week where Brendon will gush about a movie you probably didn't see but absolutely should. It's the sequel to the Shining: Dr. Sleep.
Love you all!

CG -S1E14: Season One Finale

Thursday Mar 25, 2021
We did it! The season one finale is here. But don't worry, it doesn't end on a cliff hanger and you won't have to wait with baited breath to see if we'll be renewed by the studio. We will be back soon. And we can't wait.
In this episode we reflect on the first season. This little podcast of ours started because we wanted some more positivity in our world and we missed going to the movies. But, it was everyone who listened and commented that kept us going. You have all been so supportive and we really appreciate it.
See you soon with some great flicks and some gushing commentary.

Thursday Mar 18, 2021
It's here! Our semi-season-finale! And we picked a great one to go out on. Matt Okapal is here to talk about Jojo Rabbit directed by Taika Waititi. Maybe you've heard of him? He's the guy who has directed *check's notes* everything good everywhere. So when he decides to direct a dramatic comedy about a little boy who has Hitler as an imaginary friend, you don't ask questions. You watch it immediately.
So join us as we wrap up our season with the funniest movie and the saddest movie we've done yet. And join us next week for a true season finale wrap up episode.
And don't worry, we aren't going anywhere. We already have some great movies lined up for Season 2! Thank you for all the listens and support and enthusiasm you've given us this year. Love y'all!

Thursday Mar 04, 2021
I'm just gonna say what I'm feeling: If you've enjoyed any part of our podcast this year, you will love this episode. Today we are joined by all around renaissance man Tom Provost. Tom is a director, writer, producer, professor of film, and all around treasure trove of movie insights.
Today he joins us to talk about The China Syndrome. This 1979 journalism drama is about a fictionalized cover-up at a nuclear power plant. It's dynamite. I would say that is the topic of today's podcast but that would short change it. This is a cinematic deep dive and we can't wait for you to hear it.

Thursday Jan 28, 2021
Thursday Jan 28, 2021
Today we are joined by John Riley: Montana journalist and close friend. He is here to talk to us about the 1984 movie, Gremlins!
This is a one-of-a-kind movie. There are plenty of imitators but nobody captures the weird creature/horror/comedy vibe of the original. It's a delight. So lets gush!
